Who are ELB?
ELB
Brighton (The English Language Bookshop Brighton) is one
of the UK's leading specialist ELT booksellers. We supply
books and ELT materials worldwide to an ever increasing
customer base of schools, colleges, universities, bookshops
and individual teachers.
ELB
Brighton is owned and staffed by experienced ELT professionals
with backgrounds in teaching, teacher-training, materials
development and course book writing. We carry large stocks
of all major ELT titles and an extensive range of teacher
training & applied linguistics titles.
How
does the online ordering system work?
We
try to keep the online ordering system as simple and as
accessible as possible.
We
post password protected pages on our web site for each of
the institutions we run the system for. Trainees simply:
Go
online to the ELB web site (http://www.elb-brighton.com)
Follow
the links from the Ordering Books icon on our home page
Select
the name of the institution with whom they are studying
Choose
the course they are doing
Place
orders from the booklist/order form online
What
do I need to do to offer the service to my students?
It's
an easy process and ELB takes care of all the setting up
and creating orders forms etc. All you need to do is:
Supply
ELB with a copy of the set booklist for the course(s) you
are running.
The
booklists can be broken down into modules, compulsory reading,
recommended reading or whatever format you prefer.
We
will create a 'master' booklist in an order form format
giving details of the titles, the list price and the discounted
ELB price. All the relevant contact & payment information
is on the form, so students who do not have access to the
internet can complete the form, return it to ELB and get
their books. You can use this form as a photocopy master
and pass it on to students as they enrol.
We
also post a web-based version of the booklist on an institution
specific area of our web site. Students access this page
using a username (typically the name of the institution)
and password. The user name and password are given on the
'master' booklist document. Users without the password (i.e.
those who have not enrolled on your courses) cannot access
the page. If a students loses the password, there is an
email link on the page to your institution where password
details can be requested.
The
web based order page lists all the books and orders can
be placed from the same page. Students simply give their
credit cards details, delivery address and email address.
The form is then transmitted, securely to ELB where it is
processed and the books supplied.
We
also add links from the ELB web site to your website so
the casual browser or anyone looking for a course can access
your web site via ELB Brighton.
How
are the books delivered?
ELB
uses a combination of delivery services based on the weight,
destination and urgency of the order. The information given
below is for our standard delivery service, giving the best
balance between between economy and speed of delivery. Orders
over 1 kg are sent by a 'trackable' service and customers
are requested to contact ELB if their parcel does not arrive
within a reasonable time.

Can

Certainly.
Click on the link below which will take you the Distance
Learning pages of the ELB web site. Once there, click on
the link ELB Brighton.
Again
we try to be as flexible as possible by making payment easy
and accessible.
We
accept payment by:
VISA
Mastercard
Bank
Transfer (all bank charges must be paid for by the customer)
Sterling cheque drawn on a UK bank
Cheque
in Euros (UK banks are currently imposing a £5 transaction
charge on any payments made this way. All transaction charges
must be paid for by the customer)
What
about prices & discounts?
We
charge the UK list price for books and offer between 10
- 15% discount to your students off that price. This discount
on academic books more than competes with online booksellers
like Amazon & BOL.
ELB
Brighton, by liaising with our institutional customers,
carries stock for specific booklists so turnaround time
on orders is kept to a minimum. We will inform you if a
book goes into reprint, becomes a print-on-demand title
or becomes unexpectedly unavailable so you can amend your
modules & training programmes.
We
also have a specific person within ELB who is responsible
for all book orders from students on distance learning/teacher
training courses ensuring they get the best possible service.
It also ensures that any problems can be dealt with effectively
and in person, rather than by an anonymous member of staff
or a computer-based tracking system.
Who
has access to my booklist?
That
is entirely up to you. Some institutions prefer to have
their booklist on password-protected pages, others are happy
for anyone browsing on the ELB web site to see their booklist.
We can put an institution's book list & order form on
a page that is protected by a user name and password, so
the only people accessing your page on the ELB web site
are students enrolled on one of your courses.
The
user name is usually the name of the institution and the
password can be allocated by ELB or agreed upon as we're
setting up the web pages.
We've
found from experience that many institutions in a competitive,
international market such as distance learning, prefer to
restrict specific information about courses to people who
have enrolled on or are already participating in a course/training
programme. The decision about whether to password protect
your booklist/order form pages on the ELB web site is entirely
yours and can be made or changed at any time.
